German Dishes The German cookery is really diversified and there are many typical German dishes even tough some of them are often just offered in the areas they come from. While “Labskaus” for example is very popular in the northern part of Germany the people in the southern part love the so called “Maultaschen”. Labskaus is a mixture of hashed meat, fish, onions, potatoes and beets served with a fried egg, Maultaschen are similar to ravioli but filled with cooked minced meat and spinach. To the German dishes which are loved all over the country and famous all over the world belong the so called “Königsberger Klopse” and the “Wiener Schnitzel”, the Vienna Cutlet. 
Königsberger Klopse are balls made with mixed minced meat, that are poached and served on white sauce refined with lemon and capers, the Vienna Cutlet, borrowed from Austria but meanwhile established as German dish, is a thin veal breaded cutlet pan fried in butter. While talking about German dishes there’s one food that should not be forgotten about: the typical German “Bratwurst”, a roast sausage made with pork or sometimes mixed with veal, that can be bought in almost every shop and store all over Germany and thanks to the internet meanwhile in online shops all over the world. The “Bratwurst” is traditionally eaten with mustard in a crusty roll or in some areas together with mashed potatoes and “Sauerkraut”. German sausage Another very popular version to serve the “Bratwurst” is as so called “Currywurst”, where the german sausage is cut in chunks and doused with a sauce made with ketchup, curry and other spices and eaten with a crusty roll or with French fries. Another very typical German dish, which is influenced by the Turkish cookery and was first invented in Berlin, is the so called “Döner Kebab”. It is made with meat grilled on a vertical spit, sliced and then served on a pita bread together with mixed salad and a garlic or a yoghurt sauce. Topic: German Dishes
